About Poets Foundation

- Preamble

Towards the end of 1995, a group of poets, authors, litterateur and social activists from the world of Magazines centred in Calcutta made an attempt to draw in poets, authors and social activists of the north eastern region in a poetry seminar, translator’s workshop and cultural presentation at Bharatiya Bhasha Parisad and Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi, Calcutta. The meet was a grand success. It was attended by the literary community of Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh beside West Bengal.

Overwhelmed by the wonderful response that we received from the poets, authors, social activists and litterateur of the north-east we decided to forge and extend our area of activity to the whole of India and beyond. It is with this view that we embarked upon the ambitious projects of Poets Foundation.

Establishment

Poets Foundation, established in 1996, is a non-profit making, non-political, government registered literary- educational-cultural-social organization of international standing.

Registration

Poets Foundation is registered under
(1) West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 bearing number S/85496 of 1996-97,
(ii) Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 bearing number 55-Com/0058 of 2003-04.
(iii) ‘Poetry Today is registered under the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 bearing number 66106/96 of 1996-97,
(iv) “Sahitya Sagar’ is registered under Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 bearing number WB BEN/2006/18532 of 2007-08
(v) Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976.
(vi) The West Bengal Clinical Establishments Act, 1950 (in process)
(vii) Consumer Protection and Awareness Affairs Act
(viii) Environment Protection and Awareness Act.
